For the four months of the exhibition ¨Finding Correspondences¨ at the Surrey Art Gallery Emilio Rojas will provide free translation services to the latin migrant communities in Surrey. This process will inform and transform weekly the sculptural component of his piece in the museum. The website will help document the transformation of the piece through the process of translations, text, thoughts, and photography. Rojas will also research the historial character of ¨La Malinche¨, translator and lover of Hernan Cortez. Analyzing the inception of the myth that surrounds her, through the process of the conquest, colonization, post-independence and post-revolutionary Mexico. Studying the contradictions that exist between her role of the mother of the mestizos, and the traitor of her nation.

Emilio Rojas prestara sus servicios como traductor a la comunidad latinoamerica durante los cuatro meses de la exhibición ¨Finding Correspondences¨ (Encontrando Correspondencias) en la galeria de Surrey. Este proceso sera la base que informe la transformación semanal de los elementos esculturales de su obra en el museo. Rojas tambien investigara al personaje historico de la Malinche, traductora y amante de Hernan Cortez. Analizando la creacion del mito que rodea a este personaje, durante el proceso de Conquista, Colonizacion, Independencia y Revolucion en Mexico. Al igual que el estudio de la contradicción que existe en su rol como madre de los mestizos , y como traidora de la nación.
